New Author: Power Baby's Life Adventures

We are pleased to release a book by a young new author, Julia Chin, who wrote and illustrated "Power Baby's Life Adventures," applies Susan Kovalik's LIFESKILLS (Copyright HET/Kovalik).

We are happy to add this to our growing list of "Teach to Fish" titles which have an educational theme. Here is an excerpt from the Amazon description:

Product Description

Young author Julia Chin creates a world in outer space (Planet Wobniar) with lovable characters (Power Baby and Star Princess) that young children will adore -- and teaches important life lessons and skills. This book is written for children aged 6 to 12, but people of all ages will enjoy the world that the author has created. The short stories combine moments of humor with adventure - and lessons in life, in the style of myths and fables. The book incorporates Susan Kovalik's LIFESKILLS from Ms. Kovalik's Highly Effective Teaching (HET) Model. Our "Teach to Fish" series of books aims to teach a way of thinking. We want our readers to "learn to learn" after enjoying our books. The author and editor are grateful to Susan Kovalik for her LIFESKILLS (Copyright, Susan Kovalik / HET). A portion of the book's proceeds goes to www.PlayItForGood.com and other non-profits.

About the Author

Young writer Julia Chin was fascinated by Susan Kovalik's LIFESKILLS in third grade. She created (and illustrated) adorable characters in this book to demonstrate these LIFESKILLS to other children. This is a child's perspective on the essential skills of life, such as initiative, perseverance and caring. Julia enjoys arts and crafts, skiing, and playing the violin.

New Author: Maximum Backgammon (in Minimum Time)

We are pleased to release a book by new author, Carl James, who wrote an educational and niche book on "Maximum Backgammon," available at Amazon and BCDadvisor's e-store.

We are happy to add this to our growing list of "Teach to Fish" titles which have an educational theme. Here is an excerpt from the Amazon description:

Product Description

This book contains good tenets of the great game of backgammon. How does a winning backgammon player think as each individual game develops? Opening rolls are described, with strategy lessons in mind. Basics of probability and estimation, as they apply to backgammon, are reviewed. The power of the doubling cube - as a weapon - is discussed. The goal is not to merely list a few backgammon tips, but to teach a way of thinking about the game so that readers develop a sense of vision for how backgammon games evolve. We want you to strive for constant improvement in your game. And we want to maximize your backgammon improvement while minimizing your studying and reading time. This book is designed for the serious beginner to the advanced backgammon player.

About the Author

Carl James enjoys using math and probability to describe the world around us. In particular, he loves to see what numbers can teach us about games like backgammon, sports - or the financial markets.

The book is also available at BCDadvisors e-store at a discounted price.  Please visit our website "Selected Titles" for more information.
